First Light

The sun expands, expands, expands at sunrise. And contracts at sunset. Expansion and contraction. This is what we simulate with each Sun Salutation, and even with each breath: an expansion and contraction of our inner sun, our solar plexus.

The Rock

Many of my students tell me that my movements look like dance and ask if I was ever a dancer. I’m not but I have dreamt of it. A few years ago I learned there is one small area in our bodies from which we can initiate our movements. If we are able to do this, all our movements appear fluid, clear and natural - as if movement itself is synonymous with our being and, ultimately, like a dance. It doesn’t matter if you are dancing, walking or moving through your everyday life or practicing yoga. This small area is your core.

This is me being guided by my core moving from Vīrabhadrāsana III into Ardha Chandrāsana.

“Is there such a thing as unnatural movement?”

Liquid Forms

A Gentle Touch is an exploration of Natural Movement focusing on the sun and its light. The sun gently embraces and turns everything it meets golden. Dim objects begin to glow. It brings warmth, pleasantly awakening everything around it while it exudes vibrant rhythms.
